One Evening

They came to me one evening.

Knocked on my door.

Demanded an audience.

I said I was busy. Unavailable. Otherwise engaged.

They insisted on a moment. Just to listen. Just to hear.

I stated emphatically there was no need. I knew what they would say.

They stood firm.

I put my pen aside. Transfered my current ideas to a safe space within my mind. Turned my attention toward them. Gave them the floor. Handed over the Mic.

Agreed to learn.

New ideas. They come at times when we are mid-solutionizing based on our knowledge source.

When we are settled in our direction.

The good ones stand their ground. Demand to be heard.

Don’t turn them away.

Respect what you know. But leave the screen door open for what you do not.

Combine the old with the new. Merge schools of thought.

Take seeds of many different flora to add pops of color to your conservatory.

Respect what you know.

Give tribute to what you do not.

And deference for what you will learn.

But will I be like this forever?
